چکیده

Abstract This paper presents a comprehensive experimental study on the behaviour of FRP-confined concrete in square and rectangular columns focuses some issues that might be addressed with view to improving predictive models. For this purpose, 31 prismatic specimens height 600 mm low- medium-strength (20–35 MPa) were tested under centred compression. The parameters studied aspect ratio between sides section (1, 1.5 2), radius curvature corners (20, 25 30 mm) number carbon FRP layers applied. results included stress–strain curves detailed information about confined strength axial lateral strain achieved jacket during tests. response ultimate condition are analysed, showing jacketing is an efficient technique for increasing capacity, but confinement efficiency decreases as increases. In spite such decrease, significant improvement was low-strength sections ratios (strength gain up 81%), even 2 (up 36%). tests compared design criteria four international guidelines, resulting predictions did not properly fit sections. A equation proposed assess compressive concrete, which includes better adjustment factor shape columns.

Compressive Strength Prediction by ANN Formulation Approach for FRP Confined Rectangular Concrete Columns

Enhancement of strength and ductility is the main reason for the extensive use of FRP (fiber reinforced polymer) jackets to provide external confinement to reinforced concrete columns especially in seismic areas. Therefore, numerous researches have been carried out in order to provide a better description of the behavior of FRP confined concrete for practical design purposes. This study present...

Compressive Strength of Confined Concrete in CCFST Columns

This paper presents a new model for predicting the compressive strength of steel-confined concrete on circular concrete filled steel tube (CCFST) stub columns under axial loading condition based on Artificial Neural Networks (ANNs) by using a large wide of experimental investigations. The input parameters were selected based on past studies such as outer diameter of column, compressive strength...

Behavior of FRP-Confined Concrete-Filled Steel Tube Columns

This paper presents the results of an experimental study into the behavior of concrete-filled steel tube columns confined by fiber-reinforced polymer (FRP). Eleven columns were tested to investigate the effects of the FRP layer number, the thickness of the steel tube and concrete strength on their load capacity and axial deformation capacity. The experimental results indicated that the FRP wrap...

Behaviour of eccentric loading of FRP confined fibre steel reinforced concrete columns

This paper presents results of testing 16 specimens, 12 of which as columns under different eccentricities and four as beams under four point loading regime. All 16 specimens were circular in cross section and were made of reinforced concrete. Four specimens served as reference specimens and were just made of reinforced concrete. The next four specimens were wrapped with Carbon Fibre Reinforced...

Behaviour of FRP strengthened concrete columns under eccentric compression loading

This paper presents results of testing eccentrically loaded columns externally wrapped with two types of materials. Six cylindrical (205 mm diameter and 925 mm height) plain columns were cast and tested. Half of the columns were wrapped with GFRP and the other half with CFRP. All columns were tested by applying an axial load at 50 mm eccentricity. In each group (GFRP or CFRP wrapped) of columns...
